The Innovations Fabric
Challenge a great way to show your
creativity by using your designing, piecing,
sewing and quilting skills. Design, and then
construct any fabric item using the fabric
provided for this challenge. Finish your
project by quilting and embellishing it
following the challenge rules.
Your quilt will then be entered into the
Innovations 2010 Quilt Show, September 15 - 18, 2010, in
Tacoma, Washington for everyone to see.
The fabric for this year's
challenge has been provided by
SewBatik
and it is BEAUTIFUL Batik Fabric!
You will
receive a one yard piece of this fabric
which you will use to create a quilted
object. The fabric can be made into ANY
type of quilted item. This could be a quilt
or wall hanging, a garment or any other type
of object. Use your creativity to use this
special fabric in any way.
Participation
in the Innovations 2010 Fabric Challenge is
open to quilters of all skill levels.

Fabric
Challenge Rules
Design, and
then construct any type of fabric project
using a reasonable, recognizable amount of
the Challenge Fabric. Your project can be a
quilt, garment, home dec item, soft
sculpture, etc. You are only limited by your
imagination.
The Challenge
Fabric must be used on the FRONT, TOP or
OUTSIDE of the project. You may use
other fabrics of your choice to finish your
project.
A significant
portion of your project MUST be
machine quilted on ANY type of
machine, including home or industrial sewing
machines, table top quilting systems, short
arm or longarm quilting machines. Machines
can be computer assisted.
Embellishments
may be used and MUST be securely
anchored to your project.
Please limit
the size of your project to 90 inches on any
side.
More than one
person can work on the Fabric Challenge
project. Each person that is listed on the
Quilt Show entry form will be credited for
contributing to the completed piece.
If your Fabric
Challenge Project is a quilt, please include
a 4 inch (minimum size) Hanging
Sleeve secured to the TOP back of your
quilt.
Please keep
note of the patterns, techniques, fabrics,
threads, battings, etc. that are used in
your Fabric Challenge project. We will want
to know the details for the Quilt Show
Catalog.
The completed
Fabric Challenge project will be entered
into the Innovations 2009 Quilt Show in a
special Fabric Challenge category. The
Fabric Challenge projects will be Peer
Judged during the course of the Quilt Show.
There will a monetary award for this
category.
About July 15,
2010, you will receive a special Quilt Show
Entry Form for your Fabric Challenge
project. As soon as we receive your Entry
Form we will send you instructions on
delivering your quilt to Innovations (either
shipping it or dropping it off at the
beginning of the event), quilt pick up
instructions, quilt photography and other
important information.
