A workbook packed full of ideas and practice ideas will be provided in class along with several samples and demonstrations using the quilting machine. Class #105 - Discovering The Origin

 For Most of us who use CreativeStudio, we just set the Origin to the upper right corner of the table and then we get on with the job of quilting.  In this class we are going to explore the possibilities of combining patterns together and creating new designs.  We will learn how to create them once, then sew them out over and over while maintaining the precision we've come to expect from CreativeStudio.  We will design blocks for use on some popular quilt blocks:  Ohio Star, Double Wedding Ring, Irish Chain, to name a few.  We will explore medallion quilts and create some corner pieces as well as design some centers for whole cloth quilts.

Class #115 - Design Your Own Interlocking Pantographs

As a machine quilter you may know exactly what you want to put on a quilt but it is sometimes impossible to find the right pantograph for the quilt. Or you like the look of free motion quilting but cannot consistently 'draw' well the same motif over the face of the quilt. Marjorie has developed a very simple process for creating interlocking pantographs that can look like a typical panto or like free motion, allover quilting. In this class the quilter will learn the secrets of creating interlocking designs and how to then set them up on the machine quilting table. Marje will provide several of her own designs as examples. Students will have time to play with the concept and develop their own designs in class.

Class #118 - Traditional Curling Feathers

In this class you will "pencil quilt" along with me as I share my method for fitting and marking traditional curling feathers in borders.  These feathers give the quilt a very traditional look.  Some call them Amish feathers.  We will cover doing a continuous feather border, a single sided feather border and using feathers in the sashing.  I will show you where to start and explain the reasoning behind it.  Why I mark a spine, and when to turn the quilt for the side borders and why I use this method for a curled feathered border.  I will also throw in a few blocks, just to keep you hopping!  You will also see how easy it is to quilt a quilt with nothing but feathers and your customers will love them.  Handouts will be provided in class.  Bring a clipboard, paper and pencils for easier note taking and sketching!

Class #127 - Designs from Simple Shapes and Blocks

Take a simple circle, swirl, 9-patch, heart and add a few basic shapes to create fantastic designs to be used in borders, blocks, sashing, corners and set-in blocks. No longer will you be searching through your pre-cut stencils to find the perfect fit. Pam Clarke will show you how, with these simple shapes, you can make Amish feathers with a circle, beautiful swirl shapes for large borders or small sashing. Discover how to use any size heart shape to create an elegant feather heart to be used in plain blocks or half square triangles. Take a 9-patch block and using the piecing of the block as a reference, stitch outstanding designs with very little marking. Then see how simply this is achieved as Pam demonstrates using the longarm from the free-motion side of the machine.
