Description of Volunteer Positions

The Volunteers that help at Innovations each year are the BEST people! They give freely of their time to help make Innovations a success.  We thank each and every one of  you who have helped in the past and who will help to make this year's event great.

This year, for every two (2) hours you work as a volunteer, your name will go into a daily drawing for prizes which have been donated specifically for Innovations Volunteers. Not only do you get to see great quilts up close and meet wonderful people, you may win prizes also!

Listed below is a description of the volunteer positions available at Innovations. We hope you will volunteer for one (or more) of these positions.

Receive Quits - Quilt Photography - Tote Bag Stuffers - Quilt Show Set Up  Registration Desk - Quilt Show Entry Table - Put Me Where You Need Me White Glove Volunteers - Quilt Show Take Down - Packing Quilts for Shipping

Receive Quilts Volunteers will open the boxes of quilts that are shipped to the Innovations Quilt Show.  They also inspect the quilts and keep the paperwork in order.  This is a great way to view the quilts "up close" before the quilt show is open.

Quilt Photography Volunteers will help hang quilts for the professional photography of the the quilts in the Innovations Quilt Show.  They are under the direction of the photographer.  There are many different jobs during the quilt photography.  This is a great way to see the quilts before the quilt show opens to the public.

Tote Bag Stuffers  The first 500 attendees of Innovations receive a printed tote bag which is "stuffed" with all sorts of goodies from vendors and other businesses.  We need volunteers to "stuff" the bags with all the goodies.

Quilt Show Set Up There are many different jobs in setting up the Innovations quilt show. The quilts need to be organized, hung, have identification tags attached, etc. A great way to view the quilts up close before the public and work with other wonderful people!

Registration Desk The Registration Desk is the hub of the event.  Volunteers help pass out Registration Packets, answer attendee questions, and assist the Event Registrar in routine office procedures.

Quilt Show Entry Table When the Innovations Quilt Show is open to the public there needs to be volunteers at the Entry Table to answer questions and take entry fees. The Entry Table is where the Shopper's Advantage sign up and drawings will be held.

Put me where you need me If you have some time to volunteer, but your not sure what you want to do, we will put you where we need you! There are times where we need extra volunteers or another volunteer needs more help in their position. We NEED volunteers who are flexible and can help in any capacity.

White Glove Volunteers “White Glove Volunteers” are the people who are on “patrol” in the Quilt Show, where they  answer questions from the public and direct traffic. Since the White Glove Volunteers will have gloves on (sorry, our gloves are plastic) they can turn the corners back on the quilts to show the public what the backs of the quilts look like. They also watch the quilts to make sure no one is touching, moving or damaging them.  As a White Glove Volunteer you get to meet interesting people and view the quilts up close and personal. If you have a few hours, please consider volunteering for this special position. It’s a lot of fun and a great way to share your love of machine quilting.

Quilt Show Take Down There are many jobs during the Quilt Show Take Down.  The quilts need to be removed from the hanging poles, organized and get ready for the Quilt Pick Up.

Packing Quilts for Shipping Many quilts are sent to the Innovations Quilt Show and are shipped back to their owners.  On Sunday morning we will be putting these quilts into boxes and getting them ready to be shipped.  If you have some time before leaving, please come and help. This is a great time to look at the quilts one last time and talk about the great experiences you had during Innovations 2008!
