Quilts of Valor

What is a Quilt of Valor? A Quilt of Valor is a hand-made tribute awarded to a service member injured in War on Terror primarily in Iraq and Afghanistan, consisting of a lap-sized, pieced, quilt-top, batting and backing, assembled by volunteer quilt-toppers and longarmers, and awarded to injured recipients in and out of military hospitals around the world.

For more information on this project visit the Quilts of Valor website at www.qovf.org.

American Hero Quilts

American Hero Quilts are handmade quilts given to wounded service men and women returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Our goal is to assure that every injured service member who is either stationed in or from the Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Montana and Oregon area receive a "hug" of appreciation. In keeping with our tradition, these hugs are exceptional patriotic, heirloom quality quilts. All quilts are made and quilted by many generous volunteers.

A PERSONAL NOTE: As the wife of a Vietnam Veteran and with a son-in-law who has been in Iraq for nearly a year, I highly recommend helping in any way with either Quilts of Valor or American Hero Quilts.  Regardless of your views and opinions of the War on Terrorism, let's help to support our service members and their families.

Patriotic Quilt Photos

You may have noticed that at the top of each page on this website is a different photo of prize winning quilts from Innovations 2006 and Innovations 2007. For this page, I decided that a more patriotic quilt was needed.  I put the call out to quilters on several internet chat lists for photos of patriotic quilts. I received several photos and I decided to make an "album" of them.

If you have photos of patriotic quilts or photos of quilts you have donated to either American Hero Quilts or Quilts of Valor and would like to see them on this website, send them as a .jpeg  email attachment to Innovations Webmaster. In your email please include permission to have them on this website.
